CONTEST NEWS (April 14, 2008)

WNBF FLORIDA PRO FIGURE SHOW CANCELLED!

It is with regret that I must inform you that the WNBF American Challenge Pro Natural Figure Contest, scheduled for August 30 in Orlando, Fla., has been cancelled.

The local promoter of this event, James Goad, has defaulted on his contractual obligations to pay required funding to cover prize money, drug-testing and other associated costs for the event. As a result, the WNBF had no alternative but to immediately call off the show.

The promoter has not only reneged on his agreement with the WNBF to stage the event and to provide prize money to WNBF pro figure competitors, but he has knowingly betrayed the good will of the WNBF by falsely publicizing his competition through the federation’s website and magazine affiliations.

Without the promoter meeting his obligations for prize money, sanction fees, drug-testing fees and related promotion, the WNBF opted to cancel the event in order to notify potential WNBF entrants within adequate time. WNBF competitors should note that any event the promoter decides to organize has nothing to do with the WNBF or INBF, nor the Best Body or Mr. Fitness Contests. As such, WNBF pros should not enter any event promoted by James Goad, including any event under the American Challenge banner. The INBF American Challenge and all related events are, obviously, also cancelled.

The remaining summer/fall WNBF schedule for 2008 is on track, with the WNBF Mid-America Figure slated for August 2 in Evansville, Ind.; the WNBF International Figure scheduled on September 13 in Kansas City, Kan.; the dual WNBF Bluffs Classic Figure/Masters Figure in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on September 27; and the WNBF Ms. Exercise Figure Worlds in New York City on November 8.

WNBF FORCED TO CANCEL U.S. CUP!

The WNBF announced today that the Pro Natural U.S. Cup, scheduled for July 28, has been cancelled. Unfortunately, the local Promoter in Augusta, Ga., has defaulted on his contract with the WNBF, which caused the cancellation. Due to unforseen circumstances beyond the control of the WNBF, the local Promoter did not adequately publicize the event, drug-testing was not put into place as promised and required prize money was not raised according to scheduled deadlines.

The local Promoter cancelled the contest on July 11 in a message through an intermediary to the WNBF. At this late date, with no backup site or promoter/sponsors, there was no way for the federation to attempt to step in and attempt to salvage the competition. As a result, to prevent any further disruption for athletes planning to enter this show, the WNBF has notified competitors of the unfortunate cancellation.

It is with regret that the contest has been called off, and the WNBF is taking steps to assist registered U.S. Cup athletes with free entry into all other WNBF events in 2007, as well as attempt to provide other assistance and partial restitution for applicable expenses whenever possible. In addition, entry fees will be refunded promptly.
